Author, Artist, Illustrator
S.E.L Main spent her formative years in rural England and trained as a primary school teacher at Homerton College, Cambridge, specialising in Fine Art and English. During her final year she studied in Norwich and sought inspiration for her artwork in the Norfolk countryside. Having braved the icy winter winds with sketchpad and pencils in hand, the subsequent drawings were later transformed into watercolours and etchings.
After graduating, Sue taught in independent schools in London and Birmingham before migrating to Australia with her husband. She gained extensive experience in education as a director of a centre for gifted children, school principal, and primary mathematics extension and remediation specialist. During her working years Sue always had a strong commitment to encouraging children to develop their unique gifts and talents and become independent and self-directed learners. Her own rich childhood led her to believe that all children should be given opportunities that nurture a lifelong love of learning.
Happily married with grown up children, Sue is a member of the Personal Ordinariate of Our Lady of the Southern Cross, entrusted to the pastoral care of the Ordinary, Monsignor Harry Entwistle.
She retired from teaching in order to devote more time to her family, spirituality, writing and drawing. She hopes that the spiritual experiences woven into her stories and pictures will be a source of encouragement for many others as they seek to deepen their relationship with God.
